We are pleased to provide you with the opportunity to join the Washington Area Chapter of Childhelp.
As you know, Childhelp was founded in 1959 by Sara O'Meara and Yvonne Fedderson and is a leading national non-profit organization dedicated to helping victims of child abuse and neglect. Childhelp's approach focuses on prevention, intervention and treatment. The Childhelp National Child Abuse Hotline, 1-800-4-A-CHILD, operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and receives calls from throughout the United States, Canada, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Guam. Childhelp's programs and services also include residential treatment services (villages); children's advocacy centers; therapeutic foster care; group homes; child abuse prevention, education and training; and the Day of Hope, part of National Child Abuse Prevention Month every April.
Childhelp exists to meet the physical, emotional, educational and spiritual needs of abused, neglected and at-risk children and focuses on advocacy, prevention, treatment and community outreach. Additional information is available at www.childhelp.org
As a member of the Washington Area Chapter, there are many ways to support the National and local offices of Childhelp by volunteering your time and talents, hands-on work, fundraising and community outreach - all for the benefit of the children.
The Washington Area Chapter has many events planned for this new membership year. The events will include a chapter dinner to welcome chapter members and guests and learn about the chapter's activities, annual fashion show, speaker events, tour of the local Childhelp facility in Fairfax, and participation in holiday parties with the children at the residential treatment center in Culpeper County.
Please complete the Membership Application online or fill in this Word Document and send it back to us to join the chapter in one of two ways: as an active member who participates in activities, attends chapter meetings, votes Chapter elections and can serve as an officer on the Board of Directors; or as a supporting member as a friend who supports the local chapter but may not have time to actively participate. There are various membership categories, which include: student, individual, family, corporate or a lifetime member.
Thank you for your consideration and continued support.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
