Monday, October 5th, our Chapter hosted the Second Annual "Kids on Course" Golf Tournament, at the International Country Club, in Fairfax. Many, many people made the day simply unforgettable! To start the day, we were honored, humbled and blessed with a sold out venue and a glorious day! The Host Committee outdid themselves this year by surpassing last year's sponsorship base by leaps and bounds. These very generous participants then continued to give and buy and donate all day long. Accompanying this success were crisp blue skies, a splendid day full of sunshine and well groomed fairways. The weather, and course condition, paired with sponsorship logo signage, designed by our PR Chair, Natalie Lambert, created a perfect backdrop for the beautiful pictures Jan Miller and Wade Hardman produced.

All organized by Britt and James Palmer, our entire set of golf volunteers (comprised of Childhelp staffers, friends, chapter members and Covance employees) executed every set up, registration, raffle and tournament logistic with smiles and professionalism. Met with the same level of attention, course activities were also well managed, many thanks to Susan Darby.

Kenny Knox hits it out of a bunker for a team!

After the golfers zoomed to their tee boxes, all that was left was fun! Our newest friend and very dear Childhelp Celebrity, PGA Pro Golfer, Kenny Knox, provided some of that great fun as well as sage golf advice to everyone on the course. Holes equipped with prizes, beverages and chances to win a new car, also provided the group with lots of amusement.

Tournament raffle items were gathered and displayed with the upmost of care, by Belinda Oxley and Michelle Kingsley. Months of preparation certainly paid off as the generous purchases of raffle tickets was astounding!

A Childhelp event is never complete without another dear Childhelp supporter, Rebecca Cooper. She is a journalist and anchor for the Washington Business Report by day, and a true friend to Childhelp by night. As emcee, Rebecca once again expertly brought our audience of players from laughter to tears and back.

The entire day would not be complete without the financial savvy of Melissa Arnold, Francesca Kenney and Patricia McVay. Balancing the tournament books and keeping track of all the separate volunteer "banks" throughout the course is no small feat!! Continuing way past the tournament day, tying up loose ends, creating final statements and sending tax records and letters fill their days.

If our winning team looks familiar, it's because it is comprised of very special ladies - pulling in the prize with a score of 104 - who have been long time Childhelp supporters! Way to go ladies!

At the helm of this very large ship, were Gretchen McLeish and Carla Seebald. The event was not possible without them. These two Chapter Members spent months and months creating the outline of the day, while making sure that each and every aspect was thought out and well managed by their wonderful committee members. Congratulations ladies, on a job very well done!
